Action scheduled in the BusinessPlan

The Board of Directors of Banco Wiese Sudameris S.A. (Lima), controlled by IntesaBci’s subsidiary Banque Sudameris S.A. (Paris), approved a rights issue for a maximum of USD 300 million to be submitted for final approval to the Shareholders’ Meeting to be held on December 16th, 2002.

IntesaBci - in order to back the strengthening of its Peruvian subsidiary’s capital base - will subscribe this rights issue by converting the existing infragroup credit lines into share capital without any additional injection of funds.

This action is consistent with the announcement about Peru related to the exit from South America which was made in the Business Plan.
