Banks that have converged into Intesa Sanpaolo can pride in a long standing tradition of publications promoted by them, consistently with the Italian banking system’s trend in this regard. Over the past decades our banks have felt the need to establish contact with their stakeholders – clients and shareholders – through gift publications that are considered as an ideal way of delving into the details of art, music, history and traditions in the reference territory, and of enhancing a shared sense of belonging and identity. In this regard, one cannot fail to mention the project promoted by Banca Commerciale Italiana for over thirty years - in partnership with Electa - to systematically catalogue collections archived in Milanese museums and galleries, including the series of books Pittura in Lombardia, Storia dell'Ambrosiana and Province di Lombardia promoted by Cariplo; the series Gli stranieri e l'Italia and In presa diretta. I maestri dell'arte italiana created for Ambroveneto; Banca Intesa’s editorial-musical project that proposed unpublished recordings of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Valery Gergiev, Claudio Abbado, Gustav Mahler and Luigi Cherubini, along with specialist books on musicology, history and art. The books Civiltà degli Egizi, Disegno,Pittura murale in Italia,Luoghi dell'arte, and the series on the art collections of the Group banks stand out among Sanpaolo IMI’s publishing projects. The multimedia project Vox Imago that was launched by Banca Intesa and continued by Intesa Sanpaolo was implemented to fascinate the public and build knowledge of cultured music at various levels, even through a DVD active movie designed to offer a visual track that would spread and develop the experience of a musical work by analysing it from performances and period inspirations. Another important publishing sector enlarges on the historical and economic framework with the publication of several studies on the international economic debate, the history of economics, and the socioeconomic, political and cultural transformation of Lombard provinces. The picture is completed by the publication of catalogues on art collections owned by Intesa Sanpaolo and on exhibitions organised in its museums. Along with publishing projects, we also promote and make the most of institutional initiatives designed to spread knowledge on music. We acknowledge the high quality standards of programmes proposed and of the prestigious performers by promoting the growth of the most important and ancient musical organisations, such as Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti, Festival Pianistico Internazionale Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Società del Quartetto di Milano e Milano Musica – Associazione per la Musica Contemporanea.
