Participation in environmental events
The main events in which the Group takes part yearly are:
“Energy Saving Day” within the "M'illumino di meno" campaign, in which we have taken part for many years. On this occasion we try to raise awareness of both customers and employees on the energy savings issue through various initiatives: messages on the ATM screens, symbolic events and educational activities on the subject. World Environment Day, promoted by UNEP FI, the United Nations Program for the Environment, where, each year, different initiatives are undertaken for both employees and customers to protect the environment. Almost all the our international Subsidiaries participate in the initiative together with the parent Company. (WED 2016 - PDF 126 KB)
Earth Hour - WWF initiative in which the Hungarian bank CIB Bank, the Russian Banca Intesa, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania and Banca Intesa Beograd take part.
European Week for Waste Reduction, promoted by the European Commission, to say YES to consumer awareness and efficient use of the resources of the planet and to say NO to the waste of disposable and of excessive packaging. The theme chosen for the 2015 edition by the promoting committee is the dematerialisation, that is particularly important for our bank, which for many years has been promoting initiatives to reduce paper use and to encourage the computerization of processes. European Mobility Week, promoted by the European Commission to present sustainable mobility alternatives in order to induce behavioural change and make progress towards creating a more sustainable transport strategy for Europe. In 2016 Intesa Sanpaolo adhered to the second edition of "Bike Challenge (Love to Ride)", a fun and free competition aimed at companies and their employees: a real race among workplaces, scheduled October 16 to 31, which aims to promote the use of bicycles for home/work commuting.
On the issue of waste, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania supportes the initiative "Let's do it in Romania", which involves numerous employees in "cleaning" the environment in various places across the country.
"Let’s Clean up Serbia" campaign was aimed, in collaboration with local self-governments, to improve the environment and reduce pollution through the cleanup of illegal landfills and improvements to waste management system. Our Banca Intesa Beograd joined in 2012 the initiative.
Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania supportes the initiative "Let's Clean Albania in 1 day", which involves numerous employees in "cleaning" the environment.
