In 2015 the Intesa Sanpaolo Group recorded an overall contribution to the community, measured by the London Benchmarking Group standard, amounting more than 56.7 million euro, equivalent to 1.23% of the operating result before tax. The most significant share (98.3%) comes from EU nations, where the Group conducts the majority of its business activity, 0.5% from other European countries, 0.5% from Asia and 0.7% from Africa.
The greater part of this contribution (53 million euro) was granted in cash, while the remaining consists of management fees (3.6 million euro) and, in small part, of contributions in terms of time (corporate volunteering) and contributions in kind.
Cash contribution is broken up into three main categories according to the reason of contribution, as follows:
40.9% is made up of commercial initiatives (mainly sponsorships) with community benefit, which contribute to social causes while benefiting Intesa Sanpaolo brand and business;
about 51.2% consists of community investments - namely contributions characterised by long-term plans and/orstrategic partnershipsand/or of sizeable amounts - which show an ever greater strategic characterization of the Group’s community activity aimed at longer term collaborations that can bring a real benefit to the community;
the remaining 7.9% is made up of charitable gifts, one-off or intermittent support of lesser amount.
Arts and Culture is the most significant area of intervention (63.3% of cash contributions), with 33.5 million euro allocated.
