Intesa Sanpaolo is Sponsor of MITO SettembreMusica, the international music festival that since 2007 has united the cities of Milano and Torino with a rich array of musical events. The festival’s 10th anniversary, under the artistic direction of Nicola Campogrande, will take place in both cities from the 2nd to the 22nd September 2016.
For three weeks in the month of September MITO SettembreMusica offers three or more events per day, featuring the participation of world-class artists and orchestras. They are supported by the leading musical institutions of the two host cities in the creation of one immense virtual stage stretching from Milano to Torino and the surrounding areas.
The festival will be showcasing exclusively classical music – the program spans some 800 years of music. And for the first time the program is based on a theme: “Fathers and Sons”.
Each performance is a thematic adventure. Audiences are provided with themes and short explanations, which serve as listening guides. And to top it all off: MITO OPEN SINGING, an extraordinary jamboree of song in Milano’s Piazza del Duomo and Torino’s Piazza Castello, in which the audience is invited to sing along with a thousand choir members who’ll be elbow-to-elbow with the public.
Exhibition "Piero della Francesca. Exploring a legend"
Forlì, from 13 February to 26 June
The complex interaction of art and criticism, creative output and scholarship, is the aim of Piero della Francesca. From the success during his life – Luca Pacioli defined him “the king of painting” till being forgotten and newly discovered.
Some paintings by Piero, carefully selected to mark the evolving stages of that rediscovery, will therefore form the core of the exhibition. These will be accompanied by works by other great Renaissance artists, clarifying how Piero acquired his language and the defining role in the evolution of modern art assigned to him by recent scholarship.
Intesa Sanpaolo and Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì e della Romagna are Main Sponsor of the iniziative.
Exhibition "Burden of proof. The construction of Visual Evidence from the Holy Shroud to Satellite Images"
Turin, from 27 January to 1 May
Camera - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia - will host the exhibition, a coproduction by Le Bal (Paris), Photographers’ Gallery (London) and Netherlands FotoMuseum (Rotterdam).
The exposition analyses the history of forensic photography and displays a collection of pieces spanning over one hundred years of history: from the first photos appearing in courts of law to the satellite photos used by human rights organisations to report the killing of civilians, like after drone attacks. These powerful photographs are very different from one another but share the terrible violence that they document and substantiate.
Camera has selected eleven case studies in order to illustrate a scientific approach to photography as a tool in the hands of justice. Compared to the research conducted in the fine arts field, this one is certainly very different but it does not lack a sort of grim charm, dignified by the weight of history.
Intesa Sanpaolo is Institutional Partner of Camera and supports the initiatives carried out by the foundation.
